EU High Representative for the CFSP,
met Tzipi LIV I,
Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Israel

Javier SOLANA, EU High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP), had a meeting today with Tzipi LIVNI, Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Israel.

At the meeting, Mr SOLANA and Ms LIVNI discussed EU-Israeli relations and the latest political developments in Israel focussing in particular on the Middle East Peace Process. In the current transitional period, the High Representative stressed the importance of continuing to work together towards peace. Mr SOLANA said, following the Quartet meeting in Sharm el Sheikh on 9 November, that the international community must continue to support Israel and the Palestinian Authority. The EU stood ready, he said, to help the parties succeed in their negotiations.
